Chicago Lightning
Casting Shield
Developed by battlemages on both sides of the Great War, a Casting Shield is a durable deployment of mystical force that dissipates the kinetic energy of a bullet.
Game Rules
- To create a casting shield, a Mage rolls 2d6+MOD on her magic use Forte, applying any relevant techniques.
- The result of the roll becomes her persistent defensive roll versus Challenges representing attacks by firearms.
- Additionally, the shield persists for a number of individual attacks equal to the above roll, and is degraded by one point for every bullet that strikes it with a value of 2/3 its present strength or greater. Each point of degradation also shortens the duration of the spell.
- Finally, anytime the Casting Shield is pierced by a bullet, or anytime the Caster is forced to move, the shield spell fails and collapses.
